CORRECT BULB USAGE

Dealership service and parts personnel are cautioned to assure the correct bulb wattage before replacing any light bulbs.

Bulbs of the same physical size and appearance may have different wattage ratings. Using a bulb with a wattage rating higher than specified may not be legal and could result in overheating of the bulb socket, possibly to the extent of melting the surrounding plastic or damaging the wiring.

In the case of exterior bulbs, using the wrong wattage bulb may trigger the exterior lamp failure monitoring module. The correct wattage rating of each light bulb is usually stamped near the bulb holder, as well as specified in the Owner's Manual, and in the parts microfiche/EPC.
