Campaign - Emission Control Label Replacement
SERVICE: GROUP 00 OF SERVICE INFORMATION BINDERPARTS: GROUP I OF INFORMATION - PARTS & ACCESSORIES BINDER
CAMPAIGN #: 94-0612
DATE: August 1994
SUBJECT:
MODEL 140.033 (ENGINE 104.994)
EMISSION CONTROL INFORMATION LABEL REPLACEMENT
MBAG has recently informed us that the Emission Control Information (ECI) label affixed to the radiator crossmember on approximately 700 early production model year 1995 model 140.033 vehicles is incorrect.
For certification reasons. engine 104.994 installed in this model falls into a 3.6 liter engine family even though the engine's actual displacement is only 3.2 liters. As a result, the ECI label applicable to this model should reflect the 3.6 liter engine family. In vehicles within the Effective Serial Number Range below, labels bearing the former 3.2 liter engine family were inadvertently installed.
The ECI label must be replaced with the correct version during the vehicle's next scheduled maintenance or repair (see Parts Information).
Check VMI (Vehicle Master Inquiry) to determine if the Service Campaign has already been performed.
Note:
If the campaign claim was submitted less than 3 weeks prior, the campaign may still be indicated as being open even though the car was corrected, i.e. there is up to a 3 week delay before the campaign claim is reflected on VMI.
Parts Information:
To simplify procurement of the ECI label, labels are being supplied to the vehicles' retailing dealers as per the "Dealer Vehicle Campaign List" transmitted to each dealer via MB-NET. In the event that a vehicle is serviced at other than the retailing dealer, the ECI label must be ordered (at no charge) by contacting your local PDC via fax or phone. Orders for ECI labels will be handled outside the parts ordering system. A corresponding chassis end number must be provided for each label ordered. Orders without chassis end numbers and duplicate orders for the same chassis end number will not be processed.
Should it be necessary to order an ECI label, it is suggested to place the fax or phone order when scheduling the vehicle's next maintenance or repair, thereby avoiding any inconvenience to the vehicle owner.
In Case of Warranty:
