Seat - Head Restraint Modification

REF. NO. 91/53

TO: OUR MERCEDES-BENZ PASSENGER CAR DEALERS

DATE: May 1994

SUBJECT:
MODELS 124, 140 (EXCEPT COUPE AND CABRIOLET) FRONT SEAT HEAD RESTRAINTS

As of November 1993, in the course of standardization, front seat head restraints (1, Figure 1) with posts reduced in length by 30 mm are being installed.

At the same time, the adjustment range of the head restraint guide rail (B, Figure 2) in the front seatback frame was reduced.

The PDC's will only supply the front seatback frame with the reduced head restraint guide rail (B, Figure 2).

Repair note:
Should it be necessary to use the previous head restraint in the modified seatback, install the previous head restraint guide rail (A, Figure 2) into the modified seatback as well. This must be done as the installed front seat head restraint will otherwise not retract down completely as required.
