Central Electronics Box: Description and Operation
Module Box (F23):
PURPOSE
The module box (F23) is designed to protect and cool the control modules from the various influences in the engine compartment.
Module Box:
OPERATION
The control modules are located in the module box and therefore protected from dust, water, oil and other substances that could damage them. A blower motor (M2/2) controls the temperature in the module box. The blower motor is in operation;
^ For 1.5 seconds after engine start if the engine speed exceeds 1200 RPM.
^ If the temperature in the module box is above 60 °C (140 °F).
If the module box temperature exceeds 70 °C (158 °F), the base module will store a malfunction code.
Module Box And Control Units:
CONTROL MODULE ARRANGEMENT
The individual connection fields in the module box are identified by numbers. This, along with color coded connectors, allows for easy coordination of the wiring harness with the respective connection field and control module.
Control Module Color Code Location:
CONTROL MODULE COORDINATION AND I.D.
A color code identification mark on each control module is identical to its respective connector in the module box.
