Radiator: Service and Repair



Preparation
Front engine compartment panel removed.

Removal and Installation





- Drain coolant from radiator. Service and Repair
- Unbolt oil lines (7) and (8) of automatic transmission at radiator (4), bolt on
Tighten to: 20 Nm.
- Take off coolant hoses (9), (110) and (11), fit on.
- Remove intake air scoops, install.
- Unbolt radiator cross panel (2), bolt on.
- Remove locking pin (18), insert.
- Turn fan shroud ring (6) to the left, place over fan, install.
When installing, ensure the 4 engaging points are correctly located.
- Pull off flat springs (15) upward, install.
- Remove fan shroud (6), install.

Installation Note: When installing, insert retaining catches of fan shroud (5) into the mounting points on the radiator (4).

- Pull off plastic strips (13) on radiator, install.
- Detach bowden cable of hood lock at radiator (4), attach.
- Unbolt radiator (4) from condenser (3), bolt on.
- Remove radiator (4) upward, install.

Installation Note: The fastening studs of the radiator must engage in the rubber pads (19) of the cross member.

- Install fan shroud (5).
- Bolt on radiator cross panel (2).

Installation Note: If new radiator (4), adjust positioning strip (20) by hand with adjusting bolt (21). To do this, turn adjusting bolt (21) with radiator cross panel (2) installed until adjusting strip (20) is resting with slight tension against radiator cross panel (2).

- Fill cooling system.
- Check oil level of automatic transmission, adjust to correct level.
- Check cooling system for leaks.
- Observe following torque specifications:
Transmission oil hose to radiator (union nut): 20.0 Nm
Hose clip (reference value: 2.5 Nm
Drain plug of radiator (reference value): 1.5 Nm
