DATE: February 1995
SUBJECT:
MODEL C 36 AMG AND MODEL 202 WITH 17" AMG LIGHT ALLOY WHEELS BRIDGESTONE TIRE SUPPORT
With the introduction of model C 36 AMG for M.Y. 1995, and the continued availability of 17" AMG light alloy wheels as accessory equipment for model 202, Mercedes-Benz is exclusively offering a new Bridgestone high performance tire as standard equipment.
To ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction and in recognition of the unique tire sizes, a Bridgestone Tire Support plan is being initiated. This plan will allow the MB dealer to handle warranty replacement, road hazard replacement and retail purchases of Bridgestone Expedia S-01 tires from their local Bridgestone factory retail store (Firestone Tire & Service Center [FTSC]). The FTSC will arrange shipping and invoicing for the MB dealer. Dealers without a preferred or local FTSC should call 1-800-367-3872 to find the nearest FTSC location.
WARRANTY PROCEDURE
MB dealers can receive direct dealer support for warranty situations by calling Bridgestone at 1-800-847-3272. If a warranty replacement is authorized by Bridgestone, a warranty authorization code will be issued and must be communicated to the local FTSC. The warranty replacement tire(s) will be shipped via overnight freight (prepaid) to the local FTSC for MB dealer pick-up or delivery. Labor costs incurred for mounting and balancing of warranty replacement tires will be reimbursed by MBNA.
Please submit a sublet claim with the information listed.
This is a labor claim only. There are no freight or parts charges reimbursable by MBNA.
ROAD HAZARD/RETAIL PURCHASE PROCEDURE
Contact your local FTSC and order the required amount of tires. The tires will be shipped via normal ground UPS transportation (prepaid) to the FTSC for MB dealer pick-up or delivery. MB dealers may request overnight shipment to the FTSC for an additional $12.50 per tire.
AMG ACCESSORY EQUIPMENT WHEELS
References made to model 202 vehicles converted to 17" AMG light alloy wheels apply to those vehicles equipped with the listed accessory equipment wheels.
The aforementioned AMG tire/wheel combination may be installed in model 202 only after performing modifications to the front fender lips to prevent tire contact with the vehicle body. Please refer to the Model Year 1995 Introduction Manual for model C 36 AMG (group 60) for further details concerning this modification.
A work instruction concerning installation of AMG light alloy accessory wheels, and any necessary body/suspension modifications will be issued shortly.
