Checking Compressor Oil Level
CHECKING OIL LEVEL IN REFRIGERANT COMPRESSORIn The Case Of Repair Or Slow Refrigerant Loss:
Recharging system with up to 400 grams of refrigerant (no leak detectable):
- Do not add any additional compressor oil.
Recharging system completely due to leaks, and fill receiver dehydrator:
- Add 20 cc of new compressor oil.
Compressor repair (e.g. front shaft seal), and receiver dehydrator replacement:
- Add 20 cc of new oil into the compressor.
Compressor and receiver dehydrator replacement:
- Allow oil to drain from the compressor which has been removed, while holding the compressor with the pressure and suction openings downward and allowing the oil to drain out for approximately 10 minutes. The oil drains more quickly if the drive shaft (clutch) is turned several times.
- Also allow oil from the new refrigerant compressor to drain.
- Determine how much compressor oil has drained from the original compressor. Pour the same quantity of new compressor oil into the new compressor via the suction opening, and an additional 10 cc for the new receiver.
System Suddenly Empties (e.g. cracked line or accident):
Renew defective part(s), and receiver dehydrator:
- Add an additional 40 cc of compressor oil.
