Log-in
Prerequisites:
- Card is inserted
- Device is switched on (on/off button)

If necessary (dependent on system), enter the PIN (Personal Identification Number). In response to this, the telephone then establishes contact with the most favorably located transmitting and receiving terminal (BTS). Access to the network is authorized when the mobile service switching center (MCS) has retrieved the required data. Log-in then follows. The telephone display then shows the name of the network (D1 or D2).

If the nearest mobile switching center (MCS) is not the one in which the user is registered when he/she logged in his/her mobile telephone, he/she is registered in the visitor location register (VLR) present there. The mobile switching center (MSC) mentioned then establishes contact with the mobile switching center (MSC) of the user and access is authorized after retrieving the required data. The mobile switching center (MSC) is automatically informed of the location of the subscriber. A change of location is updated in the mobile service switching center (MSC). The mobile switching center (MSC) is thus always informed of the present location of the subscriber and can relay incoming calls to him/her, however, this only applies as long as he/she is logged into the network.
