Blower Motor - Installation of Revised Motor/New Adapter

Date: September 2000

No.: P-SI-83.40/55

Supersedes:

Group: 83

SUBJECT:
MODEL 129 (AS OF 03/1996 PRODUCTION)
REPLACEMENT OF AUTOMATIC CLIMATE CONTROL BLOWER MOTOR

Effective with 03/1996 production, the overall dimensions of the blower motor have been changed. The overall length of the new blower has been shortened, thus the newer blower motor if installed, will shift (due not being seated properly, unless an adapter is used for the installation) around in the blower housing used on vehicles produced up to 03/1996.

To allow proper installation, an adapter piece (1, Figure 1), is supplied with the new blower motor must be inserted as shown, in order for the new blower motor to properly seat in the blower housing.

Note:
Regarding use of blower housing as of 03/1996 production:
The blower motor used prior to 03/1996 production is approx. 12.5 mm longer then the newer blower motor.

Thus the above mentioned blower motor (longer) can be used in the blower housing in production as of 03/1996, if the end stop (arrow, Figure 2) is removed (use suitable tool), which will allow the longer blower motor to properly seat in the blower housing.

Operation: Modify blower housing (as of 03/1996) to fit longer electric blower motor.
