Cruise Control: Description and Operation

Design

Task
Holding the selected speed constant irrespective of the engine load without operation of the accelerator pedal.

Function
The cruise control function is integrated in the IFI control module (N3/7). It can be activated from the speed of > 40 km/h with the cruise control switch (S40). Actuation is performed directly by the IFI control module (N3/7) to the fuel metering control (Y23/1).

The cruise control mode is switched off by:
- operating the cruise control switch (S40)
- operating the service brakes
- moving selector lever into position "N"

NOTE: On models with electronic ignition switch (EIS) the cruise control signals are read by the EIS control module and passed through the CAN data bus to the engine control module.
