Brakes - New Front Caliper Carrier Resolves Squeal

MODIFIED FRONT BRAKE CALIPER CARRIER TO RESOLVE BRAKE SQUEAL COMPLAINTS

A modified front brake caliper carrier with increased mass is available to resolve front brake squeal complaints.





Effective Production Range

1. Remove both front brake caliper carriers. (SMS, Brakes, Job No. AR42.10-0100A and AR42.10-0100B).

2. Install modified front brake caliper carriers.





3. Remove approx. .3 mm from each brake pad backing plate end (arrows, Figure 1) to reduce overall dimension of brake pad to 150.7 mm (Figure 1). Additionally, apply chamfer (dimensions in millimeters, Figure 1) to edges of front brake pad wear material (A, Figure 1).











4. Lubricate both front brake calipers with brake pads and brake caliper carriers (Figures 2-4) with lubrication paste for front brakes (Parts Information).

!CAUTION!
Apply lubrication paste only in areas as indicated by "B" in Figures 2-4. Do not apply lubrication paste to any of the friction surfaces of the brake disc or brake pads.

!CAUTION!
Apply lubrication paste to brake pad and caliper contact area only (B, Figure 2).

!CAUTION!
Apply lubrication paste to brake pad caliper housing/brake piston contact area only (B, Figure 3).

!CAUTION!
Apply lubrication paste to brake pad caliper housing area, both sides only (B, Figure 4).
