Installing transmitter/receiver
1. Unpack contents of installation kit and compare to parts list at end of Work Instructions. Read through entire procedure to familiarize yourself with sequence of instructions and parts. Remove Operating Guide from kit and place in owner's literature pouch.
2. Disconnect and cover negative battery terminal.
3. Remove left rear wheel well liner.
4. Set transceiver bracket into place on wheel well (Figure 1). OBSERVE WIRE ROUTING SHOWN IN DIAGRAM. The two lower feet mount on 2 studs on wheel well. The upper stud mounts through a pre-punched hole in the hinge reinforcement forward of the antenna. Place two plastic nuts over studs. Secure upper mount with M5 nut. Tighten all 3 fasteners.
5. Mount four adhesive rubber strips to U-shaped transmitter/receiver bracket (Figure 2).
6. Connect 25-pole connector to transceiver. Secure with integral thumbscrews.
7. Position transmitter/receiver onto trunk bracket with connectors facing fender, and antenna connector facing rear of vehicle.
8. Connect transmitter/receiver bracket assembly to main bracket using T15 screws provided.
9. Locate integrated cellular antenna cable in left rear wheel well. Connect to transmitter/receiver and secure cable to other harnesses, using cable ties.
10. Reinstall wheel well liner.
Installing handset (HS)
11. Open main armrest compartment. Locate two small recesses on underside of tray and enlarge using an awl. Close main compartment and open lid to smaller telephone compartment. Remove oblong knockout at rear of compartment by striking sharply downward with a hammer handle.
12. Insert plugs into two holes on topside of cradle. Press plugs in firmly so that they do not interfere with the handset.
13. Open main armrest compartment and fasten cradle from underneath using two M4 x 15 torx screws. Cradle must be positioned completely forward in compartment.
14. Route handset cable thru oblong opening.
15. Open main compartment (Figure 3). Locate cover in rear of compartment. Open cover, connect handset connector to fixed connector. Route coil cord along recess so that it exits on right side opening. Close cover.
Installing microphone
16. Remove dome lamp assembly (SMS, Electrical System II, Job no. AR82.20-0110E).
17. Measure and mark hole locations as per dimensions in illustrations (Figure 4).
18. Using microphone base as a template, carefully punch hole locations (a) and (b) to 4 mm using an awl (Figure 4).
19. Enlarge forward hole (a, Figure 4) to 8 mm so that the microphone connector can pass through. Pass microphone connector and cable through enlarged opening. Secure microphone base to headliner with 3x1 0 screw. Fasten back of screw with with speed nut. Pull microphone cable completely through opening. Place 2 fingers over microphone mounting base from above the headliner. Snap, microphone onto base evenly. Do not latch one side first.
20. Connect one end of pre-amp cable (wrapped in anti-static foam) to microphone cable, the other end to the vehicle cable.
21. Reinstall dome lamp.
Installing in-dash controller (IDC)
22. Remove radio.
23. Remove storage box by pushing down on tab (arrow, Figure 5) while sliding box out of console.
