Interior - Installation of Child Restraint Tether Anchor

INSTALLATION OF TOP TETHER ANCHORAGE FOR CHILD RESTRAINT

MODELS:
202, 210.02/05/06/07/08, UP TO MODEL YEAR 1999

PROCEDURE

1. Remove rear hat shelf (includes removal of rear seat backrest and rear head restraints):

- Model 202 refer to WIS AR68.30-P-4580E

- Model 210 refer to WIS AR68.30-P-4580F

2. Cut out a rectangular opening into right and left side (include center position for model 210) of hat shelf:

- Locate 4 indentations (arrows, Figure 1) on under side of hat shelf.

- Using a dark colored marker, draw four lines (arrows, Figure 2) connecting the indentations.

- Using a sharp utility knife and a straight edge as a guide, carefully cut through the hat shelf material along the guide lines (arrows).

3. Assemble the tether anchor assembly as shown (B, Figure 3)

Note:
Tether anchor assembly will be used in the next step to seat insert (A) into headrest arrester.

4. Install insert (A, Figure 3) into existing hole (arrow, Figure 4) in headrest arrester:

Note:
Installation is performed from inside of passenger compartment, through opening in section of interior body, which supports the rear seat back cushion.

- Using needle nose pliers (needle nose pliers with 45 angle, if available) hold insert (A) in front of existing hole (arrow, Figure 4) in headrest arrester.

- Insert threaded bolt end (C, Figure 3) of tether anchor assembly, through hole (arrow, Figure 5) in headrest arrester from top (hat shelf side).

- Thread tether anchor bolt (arrow, Figure 3) into insert until hand tight (while holding insert with needle nose pliers).

- Using a wrench, seat insert (A, Figure 3) by tightening tether anchor bolt (arrow, Figure 3).

- Repeat above installation on opposite side (include center position for model 210).

Note:
Ensure collar on insert (A, Figure 3), is seated flush against headrest arrester and tether anchor (arrow, Figure 6) is pointing up.

5. Reinstall rear hat shelf in reverse order of removal. Ensure tether anchor (arrow, Figure 6) completely protrudes through opening cut into hat shelf.

6. Install covers (trim covers and tether anchor covers):

- Slide trim cover (Figure 7) over tether anchor assembly then install trim cover (Figure 7) into opening (arrow, Figure 8) previously cut into hat shelf

- Install tether anchor cover (Figure 9) over tether anchor (arrow, Figure 6).

- Repeat above installations on opposite side (include center position for model 210).

7. Reinstall remaining components in reverse order of removal.
