Disabling Remote Control Keys, Function

When an IR remote control key is lost or stolen it is necessary to desynchronize and disable the affected remote control key with the hand-held tester (HHT) so that it can no longer be used to operate the vehicle. In such a case the remote control and transponder no longer function.

The IR remote control function and transponder function are not disabled together. For this reason it is necessary to desynchronize the remote control key in the infrared remote RCL control module with the HHT. Then it is necessary to resynchronize all remote control keys still present.

There are two possibilities for disabling the transponder:
- Revocably, this means that the disabled transponder can be reenabled with the hand-held tester (HHT).
- Irrevocably, this means that the disabled transponder can never be reenabled.

If a mechanical key is lost it is also necessary to disable the transponder.

First determine the number of the remote control key to be disabled (1 through 8). For this purpose the following information can be read out of the infrared DAS control module (N54/1) with the hand-held tester (HHT):
- Which remote control key(s) is/are disabled
- Which remote control keys are still in operation (initialized)
- Which number the current remote control key has.
