Cooling System: Application and ID

Identification Tag Locations, SL Series (Model 129):

The vehicles are identified by their chassis and engine numbers. These numbers are made up of the first six digits of the respective serial number. For the actual location of chassis and engine numbers, refer to the illustrations.

For example, chassis 129 applies to all 129 (SL) models. However, chassis 129.063 would apply only to model 320SL with engine 104.

This information will apply to the SL (model 129) vehicles using the 3.2L inline DOHC six cylinder engine.
