Design/function
During exhaust gas recirculation, intake manifold vacuum flows through the EGR switchover valve into the diaphragm chamber. The EGR valve opens against the force of the spring. If the vacuum supply is interrupted, the spring closes the valve. Air is admitted to the diaphragm chamber
