INSTALLATION OF HEADLAMP REPAIR KIT FOR HALOGEN AND XENON HEADLAMPS
Some model 210 vehicles may experience a complaint of short bulb life with headlamp and park lamp bulbs. A headlamp repair kit may be installed on these vehicles. A separate kit for halogen and Xenon headlamps is available. The repair kit for the halogen headlamps includes new park lamp sockets and bulbs and low beam bulbs. The kit for Xenon headlamps only contains new park lamp sockets and bulbs. It Is not necessary to replace the Xenon bulbs.
A. Installation preparation procedures.
1. Headlamps must be switched off.
2. Remove air filter housing and small washer bottle behind headlamps.
3. Remove right and left headlamp covers and disconnect right and left headlamp harnesses.
4. On vehicles equipped with halogen headlamps, replace both low beam bulbs with a type H7L bulb.
5. Remove both park lamp sockets from the headlamp housing.

B. For vehicles manufactured up to 10/97, Install the new park lamp socket with wiring harness.
1. Unplug removed park lamp socket from headlamp harness.
2. Slide black insulating cover from kit onto female flat pin connector of brown wire on headlamp harness (figure 1 arrow).
3. Install new park lamp socket from kit to headlamp wiring harness paying careful attention to the color of the wires.
4. Install park lamp socket into headlamp housing.
5. Plug intermediate wiring harness included in kit into main harness and headlamp harness.
6. Use tie wraps included in kit to secure park lamp harness.
C. For vehicles produced after 10/97, replace only the park lamp socket.
1. Remove park lamp bulb from socket in kit.
2. Remove harness from park lamp socket in kit. Use a suitable tool and press in each tab (figure 2, arrow) to release bulb contact and wire from socket. Discard removed wires.
3. Repeat step 2 for park lamp socket removed from headlamp housing. Discard housing.
4. Install contacts removed in step 3 into new park lamp socket from kit.
5. Install new H6WL bulb into socket.
6. Install park lamp socket into headlamp housing.
7. Plug intermediate wiring harness included in kit into main harness and head lamp harness.
Reinstall right and left head lamps covers. Reinstall washer bottle and air filter box. Check headlamp functions.
