Warning!
Special shipping Instructions
Airbags are a regulated hazardous material when offered for transportation. Therefore, shippers are responsible for following the rules and regulations in 49 CFR (U.S. DOT's Hazardous Materials Shipping Regulations) when tendering airbags for transport. For ease of preparing your shipping papers, the airbags covered by this work instruction are described as follows:

Proper shipping name: Compressed gas, NOS (argon, helium)

Class or division: 2.2

UN or ID no: UN 1956

Packing group: Not applicable

Packing instructions
(Air shipments only): 200

Authorization: EX-9605238

Please note that it is a 49 CFR requirement to include the Competent Authority Approval (CA) "EX9605238" number on the bill of Lading (if shipped by ground) and in the authorization column of the "Shipper's Declaration for Dangerous Goods" if shipped by air.

Packaging:

Efforts must be made to ship return airbags in the same properly labeled and marked carton in which they were received. However, if this carton is not available or no longer suitable for shipping, please refer to 49 CFR for the appropriate packaging requirements. Generally, airbags with a "NonFlammable Gas" classification may be packaged in strong outer fiberboard boxes with sufficient inner packaging material to protect the freight. It is important that shippers make sure that the airbags are well cushioned and are not "loose" (moving around) within the outer package.
Labeling and Package Marking (refer to Figure 2 for proper labeling). Hazardous materials shipping labels (that is, the" Non-Flammable Gas" label) may be purchased from your label supplier.
