Shift Linkage: Service and Repair

Remove/install and set shift rod







Remove

Danger:
- Lethal injuries are possible if vehicle slips off of lifting platform
- Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

NOTE:
- The vehicle must be horizontal
- Park vehicle on two or four-column lift platform.

1 Move selector lever to position "D".
2.1 Remove shield
- Models 215, 220

2.2 Remove cover from shield
- Model 240

3 Unclip locking plates (1)

NOTE: Use a screwdriver to release plates.

4 Detach rod head (98) from intermediate lever (97)
5 Detach shift rod (63) at range selector lever (33)

NOTE: For detaching, move range selector lever (33) to position "R".

6 Remove shift rod (63) together with rod head (98)

Setting, installing

7 Unscrew locking bolt (2) at rod head (98)

NOTE: Use a suitable tool to make slot at locking bolt.

8 Slacken grub screw (99)
9 Attach shift rod (63) to range selector lever (33)
10 Move range selector lever (33) to position "D"
11 Attach rod head (98) to intermediate lever (97)
12 Clip in locking plates (1)

NOTE: Install new locking plates (1)

13 Tighten grub screw (99)

NOTE: Install new grub screw (99).
For tightening, counter-press at rod head (98)
Do not move range selector lever (33) from position "D"

14 Perform function check
15 Screw in locking bolt (2) at rod head (98)

NOTE: Use new locking bolt (2)
