The purpose of this Service Information is to advise of a DCAG Special Tool Recall Action for the Spring Clamp Plate Set; Special tool: 210 589 10 63 00.

Warning!
Effective immediately, the above mentioned special tool with the production dates of 97 MO XX, 98 MO XX, or XX/98 must not be used under any circumstances. (XX tool production month dates are irrelevant). Due to a production error, it is possible that the clamping plates may not hold the suspension springs when tensioned for installation or removal, which could result in damage to the vehicle or personal Injury to the technician.

However, the Spring Clamping Plate Set (210 589 106300) with a production date of 96 MO XX can continue to be used on the Models 210.082/282, for the removal and installation of the front suspension springs.

RECALL PROCEDURE:
1. Please return the incorrect Spring Clamping Plate Set (2 pieces) with the special tool number: 210 589 10 63 00 noted on a Manual PRP Form MBUSA 512.

2. Please ship these to the following address:

If your Mercedes-Benz Center has Identified and returned the incorrect date~-code tools, please re-order this tool number 210 589 10 63 00 from your facing PDC. Only the correct date-coded special tools are available from PDC stock.

Additionally, Retailers are strongly urged to contact clients to which the above mentioned special tool was sold by the retailer. Please use the same procedure noted above when returning these special tools.
