Expansion Valve: Service and Repair



Removing and installing expansion valve



Illustrated On Model 210:






DANGER:
- Explosion hazard when performing welding or brazing work on closed air conditioning. Poisoning hazard from inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Injury hazard from eye or skin contact with liquid refrigerant
- Never perform welding or brazing work on the closed air conditioning system or in its vicinity. Smoking and open flame is prohibited. Wear protective goggles and protective gloves, work only in well ventilated rooms. Perform repair work on air conditioning circuit only if system is discharged.


CAUTION: Protect air conditioning circuit and components from moisture during repair work.

1 Drain air conditioning (recycle), evacuate, charge, check for leakage

CAUTION: Add quantity of compressor oil evacuated to refrigeration circuit when charging air conditioning.

2 Remove left air inlet
3 Remove right air inlet
4 Remove wiper system
5 Remove water collector
6 Remove rubber grommet (1)

NOTE: Model 210 only

7 Unscrew hex. nut (6)
- Nut on expansion valve: 10 N.m

8 Remove pipe lines from expansion valve

CAUTION: Plug openings (parts kit)

9 Unscrew screws (5)
- Screw on expansion valve: 8 N.m

10 Replace receiver/drier
11 Reinstall in opposite order.

CAUTION: Replace O-rings (83, 84) (moisten with compressor oil).

12 Switch on air conditioning and allow it to idle for approx. 4 minutes

NOTE: Set temperature dials to blue or automatic air conditioning to "LO" Blower to max.

13 Check air conditioning for proper function

NOTE: Air outlet temperature at center nozzle should not drop below + 5 degree C , if necessary Perform diagnosis accordingly.

14 Find leaky point in air conditioning circuit.
