Rear Window Washer

Location Of Components:

The rear wiper switch (S6/1s4) is located in the cockpit switch group (S6/1) together with the electronic circuitry for the interval function. The rear wiper switch (S6/1s4) has two functions:
Interval wiping and washing.
The nozzle (3) is located in the shaft for the rear window wiper motor (M6/4).
The rear wiper switch (S6/1s4) controls the rear window wiper motor relay (M6/4k1).
The rear window wiper motor relay (M6/4k1) switches the wiper motor on and off.
When the wipe/wash function is actuated with the rear wiper switch (S6/1s4) the rear window wiper motor (M6/4) starts running and the windshield washer pump (M5/1) is switched on.

When the rear wiper switch (S6/1s4) is released, the windshield washer pump (M5/1) is switched off and one more wiping action is completed.

When the reverse gear is engaged and the front wipers are switched on (M6/1) the rear window wiper motor (M6/4) switches on.

The front and rear window washing Systems have one common washer pump (M5/1) with two hose connections.

The direction of rotation of the washer pump (M5/1) is switched over by the windshield washer pump switchover relay (K26/2) when the windshield washer pump switch (S4s4) or rear wiper switch (S6/1s4) are actuated.

The "rear window washer" function can be switched on by pressing down the rear wiper switch (S6/1s4). The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) (N10/1) switches the rear window washer pump (M5/3) (models 202.07/08/18) or windshield washer pump (M5/1) (model 210.2) with the windshield washer relay (K40/2k3). The pump remains switched on as long as the switch is pressed, however, for a maximum of 7 seconds. Moreover, the SAM sends a CAN message for actuation of the rear window wiper motor (M6/4) to the PSE control module (combined) (A37) during this time. This CAN message is transmitted for 3 more seconds after the switch is released or following the seven second period to wipe off the remaining water. The PSE control module actuates the rear window wiper motor (M6/4) via a relay as long as it receives the CAN message. A relay circuit on the wiper motor stops the wiper in rest position.
