REPLACEMENT OF ORVR (ON BOARD REFUELING VAPOR RECOVERY) PRESSURE

RELIEF VALVE

If replacement of the ORVR pressure relief valve is required, please be advised that the old valve is no longer available and has been succeeded by a new valve. Please refer to procedure below for replacement of ORVR pressure relief valve:

Procedure





1. Remove right rear wheel arch cover (arrow, Figure 1).

DANGER!
Fuel or fuel vapors may be present, risk of explosion and/or injury:

^ Wear protective clothing and eye protection.

^ NO open flames/sparks, heat emitting equipment in work area.

^ Refer also to WIS AS47.00-Z-0001-01A for additional safety information.





2. Remove pressure relief valve (A, Figure 2):

^ Loosen hose clamps (B, Figure 2) and disconnect overflow hose (D) and vent hose (C) from pressure relief valve (A).

^ Remove nuts (F) securing pressure relief valve bracket (E) to wheel arch.

^ Remove pressure relief valve (A).

3. Remove activated charcoal canister:





^ Loosen clamp (arrow, Figure 3).

^ Disconnect vent hose (A) from "T" fitting (B).





^ Disconnect wire connector (A, Figure 4) from activated charcoal canister shutoff valve (B).

^ Remove nut (C) securing overflow pipe to wheel arch, remove overflow pipe (D).





^ Loosen hose clamps (arrows, Figure 5).

^ Separate vent hoses (A) from vent lines (B).

^ Remove activated charcoal canister (C) by pulling up and away from wheel well.

4. Remove vent hose from fuel filler neck:





^ Remove right rear luggage compartment panel (arrow, Figure 6).





^ Pull back body insulation flap (arrow, Figure 7).





^ Loosen clamp (A, Figure 8) and disconnect hose (arrow) from filler neck fitting (B).





5. Install activated charcoal canister shutoff valve (arrow, Figure 9) to hose (B) and secure with hose clamp (A).

6. Install new activated charcoal canister (C, Figure 9) onto bracket in wheel arch.

7. Install vent hoses and mounting bracket to pressure relief valve:





^ Place pressure relief valve (A, Figure 10) on mounting bracket (B) and secure with bolts (arrows).





^ Install vent hoses (C/D, Figure 11) to pressure relief valve (A), secure with hose clamps (arrows).

8. Install pressure relief valve (A, Figure 11):

^ Feed vent hose (C) through hole in wheel arch (above charcoal canister).

^ Install grommet (B) into hole in wheel arch.





^ Connect vent hose (arrow, Figure 12) to filler neck fitting (B), secure with clamp (A).





^ Install pressure relief valve bracket (A, Figure 13) onto mounting studs and secure with plastic nuts (arrows).





^ Install ORVR vent hose (C, Figure 13) to charcoal canister fitting (arrow, Figure 14) and secure with hose clamp.





^ Attach overflow hose (A, Figure 15) to pressure relief valve fitting (B) and overflow pipe (C) secure with clamps (arrows).

^ Reinstall overflow pipe (D, Figure 13) to mounting stud in wheel arch, secure with nut (E, Figure 13)





9. Connect vent hoses (A, Figure 16) to vent lines (B) and secure with clamps (arrows).

10. Reinstall remaining components in reverse order of disassembly.
