Interior - New Style Seat Covers Introduced

Date: April 1999

Order No.: P-SI-MBNA-91.18/39

Supercedes:

Group: 91

SUBJECT:
MODEL 210
NEW STYLE SEAT COVERS INTRODUCED AS OF SEPTEMBER 1998 PRODUCTION

A new style Seat cover and foam cushion has been introduced into production as of September 1998. If a replacement seat cover or foam cushion is required, only the latest style will be available.

The early style had the fiber mat stuffed into a pocket of the center section of the seat cover and requires an additional fiber mat to be glued on to the outer upper sections of the foam cushion.

The new style seat cover has the fiber mat sewn directly to the bottom of the seat cover. It is no longer necessary to glue the fiber mat to the outer upper sections of the foam pad.

This change affects all 210 models with the exception of the third row seat used in the station wagon.

Interchangeability of seat cover styles (early and later versions):

1. Later style seat covers installed onto early style seat cushions.

Before installing later style seat covers onto early style seat cushions, the side fiber mats (Figures 2, 3 number 3) must be removed from the foam cushion.

2. Early style seat covers installed onto later style seat cushions.

Before installing early style seat covers onto later style seat cushions, side fiber mats (as used on the early-style seat cushions) must be glued onto the later style seat cushions in the appropriate areas.

3. Replacement of the rear seat backrest seat cover or foam cushion.

The rear seat backrest cover or foam cushion cannot be replaced individually. The cushion and seat cover must be replaced at the same time.
