The telescopic adjustment motor (in/out) (M20m1) and tilt adjustment motor (up/down) (M20m2) are located on the upper section of the steering column.

Adjusting position of steering column

Design
The steering column adjustment motor group consists of two DC-Motors with temperature protection switches for the adjustment directions up/down and in/out.

Function
The telescopic adjustment motor (in/out) (M20m1) moves the steering column toward or away from the driver. The tilt adjustment motor (up/down) (M20m2) changes the height of the steering column. Both motors are controlled by the driver-side ESA control module (N32/1). The motors are protected against an overload by temperature switches.
