Antenna System (ATS) (Vehicles With Comand)

Block Diagram Of Antenna System:

General
The various antennas are designed for their special reception and transmission ranges.

We differentiate between passive and active antennas:

Passive antennas do not require power supply; this means that they can amplify radio signals received indirectly only.
Examples:
- All antennas in rear window
- CTEL antenna (A2/49a1)

Active antennas have a power supply. They have an integrated amplifier:
Example:
- GPS antenna (A2/49a2)

The power can be supplied by separate leads or via the coaxial leads, which simultaneously conduct the actual signals (so-called phantom power supply). In such cases separate leads are not required for the power supply.

A further difference between the antennas is that some antennas serve only for reception while others serve for reception as well as transmission.

Examples:
Reception only:
- GPS antenna (A2/49a2)

Transmission and reception:
- CTEL antenna (A2/49a1)
