Mobile subscribers in public telephone network
If the mobile subscriber has logged into the D-net within the reception range of his/her mobile service switching center (MSC), this is automatically indicated to his/her mobile service switching center (MSC) and registered in his/her personal home location register (HLR).

If the mobile subscriber then dials a number, it is transmitted to the mobile service switching center (MSC). The feed line is set up over the most favorable radio connection. This is constantly automatically determined by the system.

The mobile service switching center (MSC) then relays the call to the public telephone network.

The communication path is therefore divided up into the radio telephone network path:
- Mobile telephone
- Base transceiver station (BTS)
- Base station controller (BSC)
- Mobile service switching center (MSC) and public telephone network path
- Mobile switching center, public telephone network (PSTN)
- Fixed network telephone
