Front Passenger's Airbag

Preeceding work:
- Glasses comprtment removed.
- Center air outlet removed.
- Cover for right speaker removed.
- Right side air outlet removed.

Removal:





Pay attention to safety precautions for airbag, side airbag and emergency tensioning retractors.

1. Remove ignition key.

NOTE: The hole for the central securing bolt of the airbag units is always provided in the cover (5) below the instrument panel. The hole which is sealed by a protective cap no longer has any function with introduction of newer version.

2. Remove cover below instrument panel.

NOTE: Remove 1 bolt in installation slot of center air outlet and 1 bolt below the right air outlet.

3. Remove airbag panel(5).

NOTE: The airbag panel is attached to the instrument panel by 3 Philips screws and 2 hexagon bolts. The screw bolts are accessible from the passenger footwell.

4. Unplug connector (1) at squib of passenger airbag unit (2).
5. Loosen bolts of airbag unit.
6. Pull off airbag unit at fixtures (3) and take out of the opening of the airbag panel.

Installation:
1. Fit passenger airbag unit (1) onto the fixtures (3).
2. Screw in bolts of the airbag unit and tighten.
3. Plug in squib connector (1): You MUST hear connector click when engaged.
4. Install and tighten airbag panel (4).
5. Install and tighten covers (5).
6. Switch ignition ON.

NOTE: SRS malfunction indicator lamp in instrument cluster must go out before 20 seconds.

7. Perform diagnosis of system.
