Installing, removing condenser
DANGER:
- Risk of explosion from welding or soldering work on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning from inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of Injury from skin and eye contact with liquid refrigerant.
- Do not carry out any welding work on the closed air conditioning system or in the surrounding area. No smoking or open flames. Wear eye protection and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been discharged.
CAUTION: Protect air conditioning circuit and components from moisture when carrying out repair work.
1 Remove drier cartridge
CAUTION: Installation: after the refrigerant circuit is opened replace drier cartridge.
- Observe additional oil quantity after replacing parts
Correct oil level in air conditioning system after replacing parts.
2 Remove upper frame cross member (1)
3 Take off cover (2)
4 Detach lower engine compartment paneling.
NOTE: Front paneling.
5 Disconnect connector (4) from refrigerant pressure and temperature sensor (B12/2)
6 Unscrew nut (5)
- Nut for refrigerant lines on condenser: 8 N.m
7 Pull pressure lines (6, 7) out of condenser (8)
CAUTION: Plug openings.
- See "Special Tools" given below.
CAUTION: Installation: Replace O-rings.
- Moisten threads and O-rings with compressor oil.
8 Remove condenser (8)
NOTE: Press clips (9) together, remove condenser (8) at top and unhook from brackets (10) at bottom.
8 Remove condenser (8).
CAUTION: Do not damage radiator (8) and condenser.
10 Install in the reverse order.
