Activating Instrument Cluster
Activating the instrument cluster (A1)
When the instrument cluster (A1) is activated:
- the current contents are displayed in the multifunction display (A1p13) and
- the instrument cluster illumination is switched on
The instrument cluster (A1) is activated when terminal 15R is switched on. When terminal 15R is switched off, the instrument cluster (A1) remains active for an additional 30 seconds if any warning messages have been issued
If terminal 15R is OFF, the instrument cluster (A1) is activated under the following circumstances:
- if the trip odometer reset button (A1s3) is pressed (instrument cluster (A1) activated for 30 seconds).
- if the driver's door is opened or closed (instrument cluster (A1) activated for 30 seconds),
- if the side lights or driving lights are switched on (the instrument cluster (A1) is active for as long as the side lights remain switched on.)
NOTE: If one of the circumstances mentioned above occurs while the instrument cluster (A1) is already active, the instrument cluster remains active for an additional 30 seconds.
Networking (see figure at end of text)
- The status of the door contact switch of the driver's door (S17/3 for left hand steering or S17/4 for right-hand steering) is read in by the rear SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/2) and passed as a message on the passenger compartment CAN.
- The status of the side lights (on, off) is sent on the passenger compartment (AN by the front SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/1).
The instrument cluster (A1) receives these messages and is activated if necessary.
