General Information

Shown On Instrument Cluster Of Model 203.0, 203.2:

General
The instrument cluster (A1) has the following functions:
- information about important vehicle operating conditions (e.g. speed, amount of fuel...),
- warning of critical operating conditions,
- display of various systems (e.g. audio, trip computer...),
- as computer and display for the "Active Service System" (ASSYST)
- as trip computer

To perform these functions, the instrument cluster (A1) is equipped with the multifunction display (A1p13), various meters and gauges, warning and malfunction indicator lamps as well as an audible warning device.

In addition, various signals are produced in the instrument cluster (A1) (e.g. "speed", "terminal 58D"...) and transmitted to the engine compartment CAN and/or interior CAN.

All the necessary information comes from various control modules via the engine compartment CAN or the interior CAN to the instrument cluster (A1).

Only a few wires are required to connect the instrument cluster to the rest of the vehicle. The instrument cluster (A1) is therefore equipped with just one connector.
The instrument cluster contains a microprocessor to process the incoming data. The program and necessary data are stored in an electronic memory chip.

The program is operated using the system select/voice control pushbutton (S110s1), the scroll forward/back button (S110s1) on the multi-function steering wheel and the buttons on the left side of the instrument cluster (A1).

NOTE: Repair note
After changing the instrument cluster (A1), the key ID must be entered using the STAR diagnosis tool. The coding and the odometer reading car, be transmitted automatically via CAN into the new instrument cluster (A1) by a control module on the vehicle.
