Operating procedure
Basic requirements:
- The exterior lamp switch (S1s1) of the light switch module (S1) is set to "Headlamps ON".

1 The arm of the combination switch (S4) is moved to position "High beam ON".
2 The electronic ignition switch control module (N73) records the applied position of the combination switch (S4) and sends over the CAN interior the "high beam ON" signal to the front SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/1) and the instrument cluster (A1).
3 The front SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/1) actuates the high beam in the left front headlamp unit (E1) and right front headlamp unit (E2).
4 The blue high beam indicator lamp (A1e3) in the instrument cluster (A1) lights and indicates the high beam function.

Headlamp flasher function
The functional procedure when actuating the headlamp flasher is equivalent to switching on the high beam, with regard to signal flow. The high beam can be switched on with the headlamp flasher even when the exterior lights are off. The high beam remains switched on for as long as the arm is held in the headlamp flasher (LH) position.
