Function sequence for indicating left turn direction
Basic conditions:
- Circuit 15 ON
- The combination switch (S4) is in position "left flash on and off ON" or "right flash on and off ON" .
1 The electronic ignition switch control module (N73) records the position of the combination switch (S4) and sends over the CAN interior the "left flash on and off" or "right flash on and off" signal to the rear SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/2).
The rear SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/2) serves as a central control unit for all flashing functions.
2 The rear SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/2) actuates the turn signal lamp (E3e1) or (E4e1) and at the same time it reports over the CAN interior to the instrument cluster (A1), the left or right front door control module (N69/1 or N69/2) and the control module with front fuse and relay module (N10/1) "left flash on and off" or "right flash on and off".
3 The front turn signal lamps are actuated:
- The left or right front door control module (N69/1 or N69/2) actuates the left outside mirror turn signal lamp (E6/5) and right outside mirror (E6/6).
- The front SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/1) actuates the turn signal lamps (E1e5 and E2e5).
4 The instrument cluster (A1) signals the action visually and acoustically:
- The left turn signal indicator lamp (A1e1)or right turn signal indicator lamp (A1e2) flashes on and off.
- The audible turn signal indicator (A1h2) ticks in time with the flash frequency.
Failure of a turn signal lamp
If one of the turn signal lamps fails the flashing frequency of the indicator lamp in the instrument cluster (A1) doubles. The frequency of the turn signal lamps remains unchanged.
Touch flash function
The operational sequence for the turn signal lamp touch control is the same, in relation to the signal flow, as that for the turn signal indicator. The only difference is in how the flash sequence is actuated.
For one-touch turn signaling the lever on the combination switch (S4) should be moved briefly (less than 500 ms) to the desired flashing
position. Without the combination switch (S4) engaging into place this procedure will activate 3 turn signal cycles. The one-touch turn signaling is interrupted by actuation of the hazard warning function or through moving the combination switch (S4) in the opposite direction.
