Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair
AR83.30-P-6540M Remove/Install Condenser
Vehicles with pipe clamp:
DANGER:
- Risk of explosion through welding or soldering operations on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning through inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury through skin and eye contact with fluid coolant
- Do not carry out welding operations on dosed air conditioning system or around it. Smoking and naked flame are forbidden. Wear protective glasses and protective gloves, work only in well ventilated areas. Only carry out repair operations on air conditioning circuit with system drained.
CAUTION: Protect air conditioning circuit and components from dampness when carrying out repair operations.
NOTE: With air conditioning faults due to leakage, contamination or icing, fluid reservoir usually needs replacing when servicing or replacing A/C compressor.
1 Drain air conditioning system (recycling), purge, fill, check for leaks
CAUTION: When evacuating refrigerant, the quantity of compressor oil evacuated must be added again to refrigerant circuit when refilling air conditioning (new oil).
2 Remove radiator
3 Detach hydraulic oil lines (3)
NOTE: Installation: Check power steering oil level, if necessary correct hydraulic oil level.
4 Remove nut (5) from connection of pressure/hot gas line on condenser
CAUTION: Close off openings (parts kit).
- Pressure and hot gas line on condenser: 10 N.m
5.1 Remove bolt (8)
NOTE: Only vehicles with Code 487 Active Body Control
6.1 Remove bolt (6) on radiator (7), detach ABC suspension and move radiator to one side (7)
NOTE: Only vehicles with Code 487 Active Body Control
7 Unscrew screws (4)
8 Remove condenser (1)
NOTE: Note oil top-up quantity when replacing condenser
- Additional oil quantity when replacing condenser: 30 cu.cm
9 Replace fluid reservoir
10 Install in the reverse order.
