Activating Instrument Cluster
Activating instrument cluster (A1)
Due to the black screen technology the details on the instrument cluster (e.g. displays, display instruments) are only clearly visible when the instrument cluster (A1) is activated.
When the instrument cluster (A1) is activated
- the current contents are read out in the display.
- the instrument cluster illumination is switched on and
- the fuel reserve indicator lamp (A1e4) is actuated.
The instrument cluster (A1) is activated by switching on circuit 15r. Once circuit 15r is switched off, the instrument cluster (A1) remains active for a further 30 seconds after any warning messages have ceased.
The instrument cluster (A1) is activated under the following conditions when the circuit 15 is OFF:
- when the reset button (right-hand button) is pressed (instrument cluster (A1) is activated for 30 seconds),
- when the driver's door is opened or closed (instrument cluster (A1) is activated for 30 seconds),
- when the side lights or driving lights are switched on (instrument cluster (A1) stays awake as long as the side lights are switched on).
NOTE: If one of the conditions started occurs while the instrument cluster (A1) is still active, the instrument cluster (A1) stays awake for another 30 seconds after this. The instrument cluster (A1) cannot be activated with the multifunction steering wheel pushbuttons.
Networking (refer to figure at end of text)
- The status of the door contact switches (S17/3 on left-hand steering or S17/4 on right-hand steering) is read in by the rear SAM control module (N10/8) and placed as a message on the CAN interior.
- The status of the side lights (On/Off) is given by the left front SAM control module (N10-6) to the CAN interior.
The instrument cluster (A1) receives these messages and is activated if necessary.
