Component Identification:

The additional vacuum supply for the brake booster on the diesel engine serves to maintain a minimum vacuum level and on the gasoline engine to assist the vacuum in the cold start phase. The system consists of the brake booster vacuum pump control unit (N65/3) with vacuum connection and the electrical brake booster vacuum pump (M56).

The pneumatic system is connected in parallel with the standard production vacuum supply (intake manifold vacuum on the gasoline engine or mechanical vacuum pump on the diesel engine) is isolated by a check valve (c).

A pressure sensor in the control unit measures the vacuum present. In addition the stop lamp switch signal is still required.
