Poor AM/FM Reception

If you encounter instances of poor AM/FM/WB reception in Model 203 vehicles prior to VIN F157265, the Antenna Amplifier (A2/71) connection should be checked. To check connection, using Star Diagnosis select Model 203/Control Units/Information and Communication/D2B-COMAND or Audio/Actuations/Radio Reception Measurements/reception measurement: VHF. Select a station with weak reception in the entry field on SDS. Select F3 to start the reception measurement. When the test is complete, record this measurement. Repeat the radio reception measurement with a second person applying pressure to the headliner area near the rear glass directly under the Antenna Amplifier (A2/71). Record the second measurement. If there is an increase in the reading of 3db or greater, the Antenna Amplifier (A2/71) should be replaced.

To replace the Antenna Amplifier, refer to WIS documents AR82.62-P-8300PA, Antenna Amplifier Installation Instructions C-Wagon and AR82.62-P-8300P Antenna Amplifier Installation Instructions C-Sedan. Once the antenna amplifier has been replaced, the original test should be repeated without a significant difference between the two measurements.

Note:
The replacement antenna amplifier may have additional connectors as compared to the original amplifier.

These additional connectors may be disregarded.
