Removing and installing heater housing







DANGER:
- Risk of injury to skin and eyes from scalding with hot coolant which splashes out. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.
- Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 degrees C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage bottles.
- Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and eye protection.


1 Drain coolant

NOTE: Installation: Pour in coolant.

2 Remove water collector
3 Remove hot water feed and return hoses

CAUTION: Plug openings (parts kit).

4 Remove instrument panel
5 Remove passenger airbag
6 Remove insulating mat
7 Unscrew screws (1)
8 Remove main ground (W1)
9 Unscrew Philips screw (2) from cable duct
10 Unscrew nuts (arrow) and unhook jacket tube (3) off transverse pipe (4)
11 Unscrew nuts (5)
12 Pull off connector (6) on heater core temperature sensor
13 Unscrew screws (7) and remove holder (8)
14 Remove air ducts to side nozzles and rear air ducts on left and right
15 Expose electric wiring

NOTE: Installation: Replace cable strapes.

16 Remove ground, right A-pillar (W29/2)
17 Unscrew nut (10)
18 Unscrew left and right screws (9) on A-pillar
19 Remove transverse pipe (4)

CAUTION: Avoid damaging passenger compartment.

20 Disconnect vacuum lines from cockpit separation point (12)
21 Pull off connector (13)
22 Remove heater housing (11)
23 Install in opposite order.
