COMAND / GPS Antenna Connector Poor Connection

If you encounter instances in Model 220 or C215 vehicles of poor navigation performance within the below VIN range, the condition may be caused by the GPS antenna wire connection to the COMAND being internally open in the connector, please check the connector wiring as follows.

Model 220 from VIN A291194 through A301007
Model 215 from VIN A027910 through A028939

1. Remove the COMAND unit.

2. Unplug the GPS antenna (blue securing clip).

3. Unscrew the interface nut (contact component) by turning it counter clockwise with a 6 mm open-end wrench. It may be necessary to modify an existing tool.

4. Check the soldering by gently bending and pulling on the plastic part. If the soldering is OK, the insulation (white plastic) and the internal conductor (gold plated) will NOT become detached from the connector.

5. If the internal conductor becomes detached from the connector, replace the GPS antenna cable / harness.
