Campaign No. 2004070012
August 2004
TO: ALL MERCEDES-BENZ CENTERS
SUBJECT:
MODELS 215.376/378, 220.176/178
MODEL YEARS 2001 - 2004
REPLACEMENT OF ABC PRESSURE SUPPLY VALVE UNIT HYDRAULIC LINE
This Recall Campaign has been initiated because DCAG has determined that on the affected vehicles (see VIN range below) the high pressure hydraulic distribution hose of the Active Body Control (ABC) system in Model Year 2001 - 2004 S-600 and CL-600 vehicles may deteriorate over time due to extensive exposure to humidity and high temperatures. This could result in a loss of ABC hydraulic fluid from the vehicle. Under some circumstances leaking hydraulic fluid may come in contact with hot engine components and lead to a possibility of fire.
Please review the Effective Serial Number Chart located below.
A sample copy of a letter which owners of the affected vehicles will receive is in this bulletin.
Prior to performing this Recall Campaign:
^ Please check VMI to insure the vehicle is involved and to determine if the vehicle has been previously repaired.
^ Please review the entire Recall Campaign bulletin.
Approximately 6240 vehicles are affected.
