Audio System - Antenna Amplifier Replacement
Date: March 6, 2008Order No.: P-B-82.62/611
Supercedes:
Group: 82
SUBJECT:
Model 203.740/747/764, Up to VIN A932724
Combar Replacement Procedure
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of poor radio reception and need to replace the antenna amplifier module, please follow the below revised procedure.
Note:
Due to possible water entry caused by condensation into the amplifier module (A2/71), sealing rails (metal shields) are now installed onto the amplifier module. Vehicles before VIN A932724 should have the rails installed when installing a new antenna amplifier module to avoid this condition.
Installation Procedure
1. Clean and apply primer on the rear window where protective foils (protective tape) are to be applied (left/right sides).
2. As shown in Figure 1, apply protective tape so the traces on the window are covered underneath where the amplifier will be positioned.
Note:
The tape protects the traces on the window from being damaged by the sealing rails once they are installed!
3. Two sealing rails (metal shields) are to be installed. One for the left or right side (Figure 2).
4. As shown in Figure 3, attach the sealing rails to the amplifier module. The ears on the sealing rail should be evenly spaced to the double sided tape on the underside of the module as shown in Figure 3.
5. Repeat for the right side.
6. Fasten amplifier module to rear window using the alignment marks on the rear window (Figure 4.).
