License Plate Bulb(s) Burned Out

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles that one or both license plate bulbs is burned out, a resistor wiring harness is available to reduce the voltage at the license plate bulbs. Check the vehicle history file to confirm that a resistor wiring harness for the license plate bulbs has not been previously installed. If it has not, install a resistor wiring harness for each license plate lamp and replace the burnt out bulb(s) per the below procedure.

1. Remove license plate lamps.

2. Remove trunk lid lining.

3. Disconnect plug from each license plate illumination socket (Figure 1, 1).

4. Install resistor wiring harness (Figure 2) between the disconnected plug and license plate illumination socket on each side.

5. Cover plug socket with foam sleeve (Figure 2) included with each resistor wiring harness.

6. Fasten the rest of each adapter cable to the trunk lid with felt (Figure 1, 2).

7. Reinstall trunk lid lining

8. Replace burnt out license plate bulb(s)

9. Reinstall license plate lamps

If a license plate resistor wiring harness was previously installed, only replace the burned out bulb(s).
