Revision History

SUBJECT:
Model 211.026/065/070/076/082/083/265/282/283

Model Year 2003 & 2004 with Logic7 (Option Code 810) Intermittent Loss of Sound

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of intermittent loss of audio system sound, this may be caused by high temperature in or around the Audio Gateway (AGW). Check the AGW for stored DTCs using Star Diagnosis per the below path.

Select the correct model.... -> Control Units -> Information and communication -> Audio, video, navigation and Telematics -> AGW - Audio Gateway (MOST network management, diagnosis gateway, radio tuner) -> Fault Codes -> read out the codes

Note:
The Audio Gate Way control module may shut down due to overheating when the internal components reach an approximately temperature of 85°C (185° F). As a result, the audio system is shut down (Head Unit), turns off by itself and cannot be restarted either via POWER switch or cycling ignition switch until the AGW cools down after approximately 20 minutes, then the system will operate correctly.

Note:
Overheating may be caused by playing music at MAX Bass & Treble volume for an extended period of time

Please check that the AGW contains latest software and update if necessary as per DTB P-B-82.85/325e dated October 24, 2005

Should Event Code DTC "D004" be stored, please perform following procedure:

1. Remove AGW. Refer to WIS Document AR82.60-P-76051.

2. Loosen two nuts (Figure 1, 4) holding AGW to carrier bracket (Figure 1, 2).

3. Mount ventilator (cooling fan) (Figure 2, 5) to the AGW carrier and tighten nuts (Figure 2, 6).

4. Install felt tape on the edges of ventilator (cooling fan) bracket (Figure 3, arrows) that may come in contact with Audio Gateway harness.

5. Disconnect power supply connector (Figure 4, 9) from AGW and connect with power connector (Figure 4, 10) of the ventilator (cooling fan). Plug connector (Figure 4, 7) to the AGW.

Note:
Secure ventilator (cooling fan) adapter cables to the wire harness with a loom tie.

6. Insure the ventilator (cooling fan) is operational (spinning) when sound system is powered on.

7. Reinstall AGW in the vehicle. Refer to WIS document AR82.60-P-76051.

8. Clear all AGW DTC codes.

9. Test audio system.
