"Tele Aid Not Active" Displayed in Instrument Cluster
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of the instrument cluster displayed Tele Aid not activated" or Tele Aid not authorized", please verify the following conditions before proceeding:
1. The authorization process fails repeatedly during an acquaintance call.
2. The area has known good cellular coverage.
3. There are no fault codes present in the Communications Platform.
If the above conditions are met, perform the following procedure using DAS version 03/2004 and later ONLY.
1. Connect to SDS
2. Reset the Communications Platform to factory default by following the path:
a. Control Units
b. Information and communication
c. Audio, video, navigation, and Telematics
d. CTEL / TELE-AID
e. Initial startup
f. Reset of telematic services to factory defaults
g. Select "F2 - Next"
h. Select version - Further model series", then select F5
I. Select F3 to transfer coding to the control unit
j. Select F2 after coding has been carried out
k. Select F2 to verify vehicle and control unit information
This bulletin has been created and maintained in accordance with MBUSA-SLP S.I, Document and Data Control, and MBUSA-SLP 16.1, Control of Quality Records.
3. Disconnect SDS
4. Position the vehicle in an area with known good cellular and GPS coverage, and then perform an acquaintance call by pressing the Information" button.
5. When connected to the operator, ask to provision the vehicle. After provisioning is complete (run time is approx. 60 sec), verify provisioning with operator
6. If provisioning is not successful, repeat the procedure.
IMPORTANT:
ATX must be contacted in order to re-register the control unit. After registration is complete, an acquaintance call MUST be made in order to provision vehicle to activate all services (e.g. RDU, Theft Tracking).
