Interior - R/H Rear Backrest Not Locked Message

Instrument Cluster Message "Right rear backrest not locked"

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles that the message "Right rear backrest not locked" is displayed in the instrument cluster when the backrest is indeed locked, the cause may be tolerances of fitting parts during backrest locking. To remedy, follow the procedure below.





1. Check the distance between the rubber stopper and the striker for the backrest lock (Figure 1).

^ If the distance is less than 1.5 mm, perform process 1.

^ If the distance is greater than 1.5 mm, perform process 2.

Process 1:

1) Unscrew striker.





2) Insert washers between striker and backrest (Figure 2).

3) Reinstall striker Note: Torque specifications on striker screws are 30 +/- 3Nm.

Process 2:








There will likely be a heavy imprint from the roller blind on the backrest trim (Figure 3). Assess this improper alignment by adjusting the roller blind stop (Figure 4).

After performing the remedial process, ensure that the issue is fixed.
