Lighting - Dust/Debris Inside Tail lamps

Date: January 21, 2003

Order No.: P-B-82.10/218

Supersedes:

Group: 82

SUBJECT:
Model 211 up to A180000 Debris in Tail Lamp

If you encounter instances in the above model vehicles where dust and debris are found within the tail lamp assembly, this may be due to the tail lamp gasket not completely sealing the tail lamp opening.

Do not replace tail lamps. Clean and install new modified gasket. The modified seal will seal against the lamp mount so that debris cannot get in. This modification will not lead to overheating of tail lamps. Perform the following steps to resolve.

1. Remove lamp carrier of tail lamps (Figure 1, callout E3, E4). Refer to WIS document AR82.10-P-4906T.

2. Remove debris from tail lamps (Figure 1, callout E3, E4).

3. Remove/replace modified tail lamp seal (Figure 1, callout 2).

4. Install lamp carrier for tail lamps (Figure 1, callout E3, E4). Refer to WIS document AR82.10-P-4096T.
