Communications Platform - DTC D640 Set

If you receive customer reports in the above models of the below Diagnostic Trouble Code being set in the Communications Platform, follow the below procedure.

D640 - CAN bus to control unit CGW (CAN D): CAN reception timeout of data of control unit CGW

Step 1 - Connect SDS.

Step 2 - Enter the CGW settings menu by following the path:

1. Control units

2. Body

3. CGW - Central Gateway

4. Control unit adaptations

5. Read coding and change if necessary

Step 3 - Select setting "Telecommunications".

Step 4 - Verify that "Telematic services TELE AID or E-call" is set to PRESENT".

Step 5 - Ensure that battery voltage is at least 12V.

Step 6 - Enter the Communications Platform fault code menu by following the path:

1. Control units

2. Information and communication

3. Audio, video, navigation, and telematics

4. CTEL - Control unit Telecommunication

5. Fault codes

Step 7 - Select Erase fault codes, perform self-test, and then read out fault codes"

Step 8 - If D640 is NOT set, or status is "Stored", then Communications Platform is OK. If D640 status is "Current and stored", contact EDAC (800-997-8228) for authorization of CP replacement.
