GF07.61-P-4028KE Intake Air Temperature Correction Function

GF07.61-P-4028KE Intake Air Temperature Correction Function
- up to model year 08

Component Identification:

The task of the correction of the intake and charge air temperature is to reduce the thermal stresses on the engine at high temperatures of the intake air and charge air.

If the intake air temperature/charge air temperature is too high, ignition timing is adjusted at high "load" to "Late" (retarded).
The correction by retarding the ignition timing is map-controlled by the ME control unit.
It begins as of an intake/charge air temperature of approx. 35 °C and reaches its maximum at approx. 65 °C.

The ignition timing is retarded e.g.:
- at 35 °C intake/charge air temperature and full load ->3.5° crankshaft angle
- at 45 °C intake/charge air temperature and full load ->6.3° crankshaft angle
- at 65 °C intake/charge air temperature and full load ->9.5° crankshaft angle

The following information is processed in the ME-SFI control unit for this purpose:
^ Intake/charge air temperature
^ Engine speed and crankshaft position
^ Throttle valve position
^ Air mass and intake manifold pressure

The ignition angle corrections of the coolant temperature, intake/ charge air temperature and knock control are added in line with the performance map.
