Paint Damage on Flaps of Soft Top Compartment Lid
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of paint damage on the soft top compartment lid flaps (Figure 1), retighten the cables used to actuate the flaps per the below steps. Paint damage may occur when the soft top compartment lid flap touches the plastic trim on the soft top compartment lid guide (Figure 2).
The soft top compartment must be raised with the top stored in the soft top compartment in order to adjust the cables at the linkage flaps (Figure 3).
Partially remove soft top compartment lid trim to gain access to flap cables. Refer to WIS document AR68.30-P-1650QA only for partial removal of compartment lid trim.
Use a narrow screwdriver to pull the safety clip off the threaded union. To tighten the cables, pull the threaded union in the direction of the arrow and lock it again with the clip (Figure 4).
