B. Drilling the Hole In Roof





1. Properly position headliner template (Figure 1) and affix it to headliner with masking tape.

2. Mark rectangular section to be cut-out of headliner (arrow Figure 1).

3. Using a sharp knife, cut-out the section of the headliner marked in step 2.

WARNING!
Risk of bodily injury! Wear proper eye protection!

Note:
Depth of blade during cutting should not exceed .5 inch.





4. Properly position roof template (Figure 2) and affix it to roof with masking tape.

5. From the top of the roof, drill a 3 mm diameter pilot hole at the mark, then enlarge to a 6-mm hole.

Note:

^ Be careful not to damage the roof. Carefully remove the metal shavings resulting from drilling with a vacuum cleaner or compressed air.

^ Cover inside of cargo compartment to catch metal shavings during drilling. Remove any metal shavings in cargo compartment when finished drilling.

6. Drill the pilot hole from the top of the roof to 20 mm diameter using a progressive drill bit (local purchase).

CAUTION:
Do not use a hole saw or damage will occur to roof.

7. Remove burrs.

8. Thoroughly coat the hole edge with primer (part no. A000 986 06 50) and allow to dry.
